Kudos to Richard who picked out two great ones. You could make an argument Route 66 is the "coolest" TV theme since it's been covered by so many legitimate artists like the Rolling Stones.

One of the things we talk about at our house is how music can be written to create an emotion or feeling (confusion, fear, supremacy, etc.).

Here are two others that do this. Both have narratives, but if you listen to the music in the background, it absolutely achieves the emotion intended. For the Twilight Zone, the sense that something disturbing or beyond the imagination is about to happen. For Superman, the sense of greatness. Alfred Hitchcock routinely employed composers such as Bernard Hermann who were brilliant at using music to create an emotion.

Like Paul, we aren't trying to hijack the thread. (Can you hijack your own thread?

) Anyway, it's interesting to us to see how some of these TV theme songs (sometimes with lyrics factored in) prepared you for what was to follow.

There's been some great ones posted already, from Nelson Riddle's Route 66 (diff. from the one that so many bands played) to all of the great ones from the studio greats like Hogan's Heroes, etc. Here are my 3 contributions:

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. This is the theme for the first season, which was changed later on. It's after the intro of the show.

Here is my other one: The Saint with Roger Moore.
