Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
I understand "Blue", LeAnne Rhymes first hit, was originally written for Ms. Hensley. Alas, she never had a chance to record it.

The clues made it too easy, guys........ Patsy Cline!!
She never got any exposure in my home when I was a lad......... Mum and Dad were into Miller, Dorsey, et al. I doubt that I would have listened even if she was played.
I didn't know she was so young when she died!

A most awesome voice.
Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
I have to agree Jerry. I just love her singing. It's too bad she left us so young.shamustwin wrote:A most awesome voice.

Two members of Badfinger wrote a song that became a a number one hit for an artist in 1971 and also for another artist in 1994.
Name the song, the name of the two artists who both propelled it to number one in the charts and also tell us what the central theme was of the song.

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
This particular song started out as two separate song fragments by the different writers, and when recorded by Badfinger, wasn't all that special.

"Can't live if living is without you"? Harry Nilsson/Mariah Carey? Well, love, i guess.

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
Indeed Sheena,
Your guess is mostly correct. The song is titled "Without You" and it was purportedly written about suicide which coincidentally was the cause of death of both of the writers and former members of Badfinger.

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
Interesting. I would've never guessed it was about suicide. I'm surprised, maybe even more surprised than when i found out that Niagara's "Soleil d'hiver" was about the same thing.winston wrote:Indeed Sheena,

Another relatively easy on to get the juices on this thread flowing again..............
This perennial Xmas favourite has been in the charts several times since they broke up in the 80s. Who are they and what is the name of their Christmas song. UK forum members should know this one off by heart.

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
I was gonna go with "Merry Christmas Everybody" by Slade, but they didn't really break up in the '80s...
If you ever live in the UK, you won't be able to get away from this song at Christmas!

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
Scotty, we may have to go through them all - I'm not sure that I'm right... My knowledge of UK Christmas hits is limited to Slade, Wham and Band-Aid....
