Chris Squire and 8 strings
Continuing my Squire fixation.........
I originally posted about this on a Yes forum, and got a few good replies but that was before I found this board!!
Anyway, the point. I was watching a video recently and Chris was playing a song called "Going for the One" using a Ric 8 string bass. Only this didn't have the huge cresting wave headstock on recent 8 stringers but a much smaller squiggly one.
Can anyone enlighten me on this model, production run, colours etc or was it a one off?
The thing sounded absolutely AMAZING and that was through a ****** videotape!!

Thanks Lindsay, I know I have that same pic around here somewhere and might have posted it here once before, just couldn't find it!
I am assuming that since they are not like the 4008 or the 4003s8 that they are custom items. I have never seen one other than the ones owned by these rock stars, so you take a guess how they got em!

One unique thing about that show that I do remember, they opened up with "Does it really happen" a tune off of "Drama". When the curtain dropped, they were playing in the round, and there was Squire, banging away on a Pelham Blue non-reverse Gibson Thunderbird. He also played his classic Rick, a Fender Jazz, his Electra MPC and ended the show with the Rick 4008. I'll try to get ahold of those pictures.
