What's changed while your Ric is on order?

Post by nukebass »

I figured I'd post another random discussion topic. What's changed in your life since you placed an order for a Rickenbacker? This can apply to what happened while it was on order, if you have received it, or what has happened and is happening now while you are waiting.

For me...

November 05 - Placed order for Cii
March 06 - bought wife a new car (Acura TL)
May 06 - Changed job function (still doing this one)
March 07 - bought 650S
March 07 - bought new truck (Dodge Dakota)
June 07 - bought 4003 DCM
November 07 - bought 650C BBR, sold 650S
June 08 - ordered Epiphone J-160 (received it last week)
July 08 - had first child (YEAH!! :D guitar buying on hold!! :( ) I hope he likes Ricks...
July 08 - bought 650S back...probably need to sell a guitar soon

A lot can happen in three years.

Congrats on your new baby, Ryan.

The only thing that's changed since I ordered my 360/12C63 in June, 2006 was that I bought a 330DCM in December, 2006.

I didn't have to wait. When I decided I wanted a Ric bass, I found one online and in stock and ordered it. In three or four days, I had my bass! 8)

it was new comstock 12 almost 10 years ago - the last time i ordered new ric. i waited waited waited and waited some more, waited again and waited ....so you get the picture how long i have waited and after some more waiting i went rather sad to describe politely what went through my head beside the simple fact that kept nagging - i was not in business of giving interest free loans to dealers.

just couple months of waiting later it arrived out of blue and i sold it about year later for the lack of funds with my third child being born in the meantime. during the time between order and the delivery: bush became president and usa became not such a friendly place for foreigners (or anybody with funny accent) and corporate america went rather happy and so i changed from being just a number in another faceless corporation to being 100% freelancer and moved twice with all the kids, i grew long hair and beard and cut the hair and shaved myself again, i was diagnosed with diabetes, bought our 1955 buick wagon and gained permanent resident status in usa . bought two 362/12 and 4080 and sold them all.

the main thing was that the experience of endless waiting decided it for me - i will never order new guitar ever again. it was priceless lesson and i am glad it happened before they released some more timeless classics.

Well, one very good thing that happened since I ordered my 360/12 is Full-Width Inlays! Oh, and a kid graduating from Med School, a kid graduating from college, a kid going to grad school (same kid), and a kid going to college (different kid), still three more at home...oh, and my wife still loves me

I take it that you haven't spent their college funds on Rics.
