Re: The Return Of Wayang
Er...uh...yikes...
Sorry once again to have become conspicuous by my absence. I've been having a genuinely dreadful time since mid-July. It's a bit of a long, grim saga, but as we used to say in Antarctica, "Still above the ground..."
For now, and for the next couple of months, I'll be in Southern California dealing with a family crisis and recovering from my six week bout with 'shingles' (we're not talking roof repairs here). That sh*t got into my eyes, along with a secondary bacterial infection brought on by my stubborn refusal to just lie down and be sick rather than proceeding with repair work to my motorcycle; together, they were threatening to leave me blind and produced about ten days of the worst pain and suffering I can remember being subjected to. What fun!
Sos anyways...sorry to have been scarce. I'll try to fit in some postings when I can...I might even try getting back up on my sense of humor and seeing if it'll support my full weight...
Hope everyone here is happy and in good health...and I'll try to get that Jaco story posted once and for all...
(Hey Wints...have you heard about that election thingy we're having soon? I don't know whether it's of any interest to you folks over there on the other side of the pond, but here it seems to be creeping into the media's attention and threatening to supplant the nation's fascination with the Jonas Bros.' careers. Oh well...whether it's politics or pop music, we remain a people firmly convinced of the restorative power contained in the act of releasing thousands of brightly colored balloons...)

Welcome back my friend. You have been missed around these parts. Sorry to hear about that nasty infection, but I don't think those bugs know who they are dealing with. They'll soon back away tired and scared of another fight with you..........

Whoa! Get well, Dane. That is most important.
Re: The Return Of Wayang
Very sorry to hear of your problems, Dane. Hope you're over the worst of it and you're kickin' and screamin' again soon!

Welcome back, Dane.
Re: The Return Of Wayang
Dane: First a double neck, then a double infection, time for a double scotch. Get well my friend.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: The Return Of Wayang
Dane, I wish you a speedy recovery and I hope your family matter is much better now also.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: The Return Of Wayang
Good to hear from you Dane...
Shingles is distinctively unpleasant, and the eyes take it to another level. Suppressive meds will help, (and there are possibly a few other options you may have come across...but, sssh...
) but you gotta get the stress out of your life...
Not that that is easy with all those things going on. As part of your recovery, I recommend you do not listen to the Bros of Jonas, and avoid politics, where, hopefully, certain individuals will palin to insignificance...

Re: The Return Of Wayang
Thanks all, for the kind and encouraging words...
Especially yours, Wints...I had to laugh when I read your advice. Yes indeedy, less stress sounds like just the ticket.
Y'know, I lived in Alaska for three years, back in the days when we were building this big pipeline thingy which every Alaskan now gets $1,000 a year from...and I hope they enjoy it...but I'll tell you frankly, when something like a half-million people tell you with a straight face that an immense territory full of unimaginable wildness and beauty "belongs to them"...and most of them have been there for less than twenty years...oh yeah, and there are some other people who've been there for around 10,000 years, but there's not many of them left, so just ignore them...well, it all cracks me up...
Never mind the types who live up there and talk about seceding from the US. I mean, forget that that's treasonous...how the hell is that tiny number of people going to guard a coastline bigger than the rest of the US combined? It's going to take a hell of a lot of snow machines, assault rifles, hockey sticks and lipstick to secure that frontier, baby...
We're dealing with profoundly isolated lunacy here folks...all I know for sure is there's a red button on the desktop of that white mansion in D.C., and I think we need to be very careful about who gets to sit within arm's reach of it...
Okay, I'm getting stressed here...oh, the pain...serenity now, serenity now...
