Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
Vapor deposition gold plating, from what I've seen, seems to be more durable than old standard electroplating.
But it'$ pri¢ey...

Yeah, but nothing's too good for your favorite guitar. Anything that makes you want to play it more often is a wise investment, to my thinking.

John Minutalgio's 1993/12 reissue (my dream 12-string) has gold hardware, pickguard and TRC

Here's a picture of my 650S.
Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
Sweet, Kris, I've never seen one of those in person. I like the elegant styling, as with the 4004. Does that have the wider neck? And what, humbuckers?

Here is my 4001V63 MG with Gold Hardware. I know it isn't stock but I think it looks cool.

Just think how heavy the instruments would be if all the metal except the tuners was actually solid 24K...and how expensive the instrument would be!
Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
I'd suffer along with the added weight, somehow
but if you need to ask how much, you can't afford it.

The 650 series has the humbucking pickups, and the wider, through-body maple neck with walnut wings. 24 jumbo frets. The finish over the whole guitar is natural oil rubbed.
Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
For playability I'm hooked on the vintage configurations but I love the styling.

Brian, clicking on the attached photo doesn't enlarge it like clicking on others does. Any chance you can attach a larger file. I'd love to see it. Did you have the standard hardware gold plated?

Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
That is exactly what I did. I had a client do it for me. John Bolin of Bolin Guitars made the Pickguard and Rickenbacker provided the TRC. If you PM me I will send you a few photo's that are better.bassduke49 wrote:Brian, clicking on the attached photo doesn't enlarge it like clicking on others does. Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
Brian, if you e-mail them to me I'll be happy to post them for you. I too would like to see. Is the TRC gold as well? PM incoming your way
