Re: Laredos shipped!
This is encouraging to me, with an order in for a Cii in Blueburst for 1006 days. Last word from Ben (I think) last May was that another batch of Cheyennes was coming in "fall," and, well, fall is here (in the Northern hemisphere, anyway). If they've set up to make Laredos, it's likely they will make Cheyennes soon. Yes, the body construction is different, but much of the remainder is the same. Hopefully, RIC is in the 4004 "groove" for a little while and will fulfill these long outstanding orders.

Hey Paul, I don't know how you can deal with waiting for a new 4004, it must be murder!!, I've never been in the position you are in.
I've always been the type of guy that just went into a guitar shop (or ebay nowadays), and had a good look for something I liked, hopefuly a nice 4001 or
a similar series model.
I hope you get yours soon, (and all the others), waiting almost 3 years (or more) for a guitar must be pure torcher!

Not really torture, David, as I have a fleet of 14 others pleading for play time, including two 4004s: a '93 Cheyenne (I), and a '97 Fireglo Laredo:

WOW! That is a beautiful collection Paul. Very nice
Re: Laredos shipped!
Paul, save some for the rest of us!!
What year is the first bass on the left stand (the one next to the really white one)? That looks really nice and vintage.
I am guarding my optimism about Ciis coming out soon since no Ls were made along with the Ciis in May. However, maybe the big run was designed for the end of the year. We just need somebody to sneak in the factory to see if there are a whole bunch of Cii/L necks laying around (maybe RIC conveniently puts them in a big pile labeled "4004 necks" so that person can find them...

Re: Laredos shipped!
]Ryan, that is the famous "mink" bass you've probably heard about. It was a '72 MG that I had abused since I bought it used in '75. It sat under the guest bed for 26 years, through one marriage to another, and through five moves. Got back into playing it in 2002, found that I had money and renewed interest, and started collecting.
I had it refurbished by Ted Staberow (stripping, sanding, refret, rebinding the neck) and Paul Wilczynski (more sanding, rebinding the body, and new finish - a berry burst I had called "mink" as it was similar to a custom Les Paul I had seen with that finish name in the late '70s). Here's a better view:

Is the Mink 4001 the one that's shown in the Rickenbacker price guide book, Paul? It's a great looking bass.

Re: Laredos shipped!
Thanks, folks. Yes, that photo did appear in John Minutaglio's price guide book. I helped him out with photos last time on the bass section.
Re: Laredos shipped!
So, with all the Laredos shipping, has anyone gotten the call?
