Mapleglo.
I have to say that I haven't seen a really nice (new) Rickenbacker mapleglo guitar for quite a while now, and to be honest, the 2008 mapleglos that I've seen are so plain/bland they might as well be plywood.
I know there are wood supply problems in world, but I have to say that Gibson are still managing to source some absolutely beautiful flame and quilted maple for their guitars.
A mapleglo was top of the list for my next guitar, but looking at this years models, I think i'll give it a miss and see what comes out of the factory next year, maybe it's just a poor batch they've got?

Re: Mapleglo.
Highly figured maple has never been "standard issue" on 330's and 360's. The fancier wood is saved for the 381's, the Cheyenne basses, and the 660's.
To call the maple selection "poor", though? Sheesh.

Like JB says, it depends on the model. Every once in a while a beauty will slip through on the standard line, but it's rare to see a 660 or 381 that doesn't have spectacular figure. I wouldn't compare the wood on a standard 330 with a high-end Gibson.
One of my favorite 360s...

Re: Mapleglo.
It's always the luck of the draw, and it's not unusual to see some flame in a 360, although the really nice stuff is usually seen on the 381s and 660s. Waiting a year accomplishes little, as RIC gets in new wood much more frequently than once a year!

Re: Mapleglo.
Not the best photo but this one has a wonderful grain pattern and flame too!

Got Glow?
It took me a year of hunting to find it and I had to change all the hardware over from black, which I'm not fond of on maple, but it was worth the trouble.

Re: Mapleglo.
what did you do with the black hardware?

Re: Mapleglo.
Traded in the R tailpiece so that I could buy a chrome one, sold the guards and pickup covers and still have the tuners in a box somewhere along with maybe the bridge base and strap buttons.
Re: Mapleglo.
I just got lucky with mine. Like Paul said, Luck of the draw. I bought mine sight unseen.

That guitar is a real corker, Stan.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

What about That guitar is a real Stoater, Stan.
Re: Mapleglo.
Stoater was a new one on me, Scott, but fits the bill. Corker does as well, Peter. Of course I'm a tad biased.
