Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
I'd prefer a lower grade of gold such as 14K or 18K, as is the grade on a lot of jewelry, if it would make the plating more harder and more durable!
Re: Gold hardware on a Rick?
harder, somewhat, and a more practical and popular choice for gold plating. I'll venture another wild guess (ducks) and say that your tuners are 14K plated now. But the real culprit is the thickness, or lack thereof. I think they put on the minimum amount of gold that will fool the eye, which wears through quickly, as you found out.paologregorio wrote:I'd prefer a lower grade of gold such as 14K or 18K, as is the grade on a lot of jewelry, if it would make the plating more harder and more durable!

My 730L has stock gold tuners and strap bolts.

Thanks, guys, I never saw a 380L before. Would look good with the 650C and the 4004C next to it, i'll bet.
I think the gold looks super on fancy acoustics, always liked that look. Gary, did Paul build yours?

Elegant V63, Brian!
Are the tuners+bushings, TRC, toaster pickup cover, treble pickup surround and tailpiece gold ones as well?
Here's fellow forumite Lindsay Hahn's lovely 2006 4004 Cii BBR. Love gold on blue!
