The Purple Hearts

Post by miguel »

The Purple Hearts were a fantastic R&B band from Australia. The recorded from 1965 to 1967 and released five singles and an EP. They had a great sound and great looks, too. Anyone remembers them?

Miguel: Thanks for this video. I do not remember them but I have to say I agree that they have a great sound. I will need to do a search and find some more of their tracks.

Half A Cow, an Australian label, has released a great Purple Hearts CD compilation. It's really good, I bought my copy in July and I've been listening to the band since then. Check these links for more info:

- The Purple Hearts CD (Benzedrine Beat!):

Here's another song. It's included on the CD. I have found this on YouTube. The video quality isn't very good, just listen to the music. You'll enjoy it! :)

Miguel: Benzedrine Beat is a bit like Australias' Stones. You have to love the harmonica introduction and the vocal.

I wonder how they did on the charts down under?

Scotty: Thanks for the update.

I wonder if their philosophy of everyday living has changed over the years. In this track I couldn't help but notice. :)
"Everybody's living in their private hell, that's the same sick feeling you know so well."
