Some things are just too "hot" to move for a thief. This is great news.

It's good he was able to get it back.

This is great news! I wasn't optimistic, but it turned out to be a happy ending.

Re: Peter Buck's Rick 360 stolen!
Thanks to all of you who expressed support, remorse, outrage and condemnation at such a senseless and strange act. As the Equipment Mgr. of REM, longtime associate of Peter's, Athenian and uber fan of the band I can say I was as crushed as any about the theft.
The guitar went missing literally "minutes" after the last note of the encore was struck at Finnair Stadium in Helsinki. It was removed from an Ultracase rack, in a cordoned off area, "watched' by a security guard, 25 feet from one of two entrance/exit points on stage. These points had CCTV cameras trained on them. Nonetheless, the guitar was reacquired Friday after an anonymous tip.
Again, to all those who offered kind words, support and condemnation -- thanks. Who knows, maybe the parties responsible realized the fruitlessness of their actions after reading this and many of the other forums that expressed outrage. I'd like to think so.
To the longtime member of this forum who called for my dismissal I say: Down South we often refrain from assuming anything until all the facts are in. To do so only "makes an *** out of you and me". That, and because we're brought up with manners and it's just plain rude. I'll also add that if you want to flap that lip further, I'm one of the easiest people to find (and get along with) in Athens, GA. Just ask Kenny.
Much Love,
db

Dewitt: Thanks for sharing this great bit of news rewgarding the return of Peter's guitar.
I have removed the stolen designation from this instrument.
Please give our best to Peter.
P.S. We would mind having you keep us up to date on REM should you have the time.

Hi, DeWitt,
Please don't be a stranger. Y'all come back, now, hear?

I'll retract this statement of mine, DeWitt:
"They are probably kicking themselves for not keeping a better eye on it."
Your explanation of the event points to an inside job.
