Guitar Case lengths?

I just picked up what looks like a Ric case (pics soon). Likely late 60's, typical Ric case- Black w/red plush inside. I think it was originally for a 360, as it has the cutouts for the body, and it's a slight bit too small to fit an OS 360 or 330, in the mid cutouts.

Anyways, it also seems to have tons of room at the headstock end, and the case is about 3-4" longer than all my other standard universal Ric cases.

My main question is- were cases that held 12 string models longer than 6-string cases?
