THIS WEEK IN BEATLE HISTORY 9/29 - 10/5

Post by beatlefreak »

I'm going to try a new recurring topic for The Beatles Forum where I'll post noteworthy items the Beatles were working on throughout their career for particular days of the current week. There won't always be an item for each day, but I'll try to fill as many as possible.

Your feedback and suggestions are appreciated and welcomed. If you know of another newsworthy item, feel free to post it. Ask questions, suggest expanding/condensing the series, whatever. as long as there is interest in this, I'll continue.

Many of the items can be accredited to The Complete Beatles Chronicle by Mark Lewisohn, an invaluable reference book.

1960 - The Beatles (with Pete Best) were finishing up the final days at the Indra Club on their first trip to Hamburg.

Sept. 29th, 1961 - The Beatles played two gigs - First at the Cavern, later at the Village Hall in Knotty Ash, Liverpool.

Sept. 30th, 1964 - No Reply started and completed at Abbey Road, after working on Every Little Thing and What You're Doing.

Oct. 1st, 1968 - Backing track for Honey Pie recorded at Trident Studios, London.

Oct. 3rd, 1959 - The sixth of seven consecutive Saturday gigs at the Casbah Club, newly opened the previous month in the Best's cellar.

Oct. 4th, 1963 - Ready, Steady, Go! was broadcast live from Television House, Kingsway, London, with the Beatles miming to 3 songs.

The Lewisohn book is an excellent reference, Kris. And thanks for posting the timeline.
