Need help in Albany please

Post by houblues »

Help a forumite! There is a guitar on Albany CL I want it if it all checks out. I am looking for someone to lay hands and eyes on it, buy the guitar, and ship it to me. I searched and found a few forumites in the area and PM'd them. I thought I'd cast a wider net though too by posting here. If you or a reliable person you know (who knows guitars) is in the Albany area, I'd appreciate a quick reply. I think I need to move quickly on this.

No problem helping a fellow forum member. Of course, mailing two beautiful guitars away MIGHT be a problem! Who would have thought that a gear collector would be living right around the corner from me?

Technically, I am in Clifton Park. But that is pretty close to Albany.

I used to live in Clifton Park (Halfmoon). Parkway Music was, unfortunately :D , less than a mile from my house. I still check their website from time to time. The best darn music store I have ever had the pleasure of patronizing. Good guys, very knowledgeable, willing to help, and make good on price. Now I'm in Rochester and I have the H.O.G.! Not bad, but not Parkway, either!

+1 on Parkway. I bought my 350 from them in 2006. Great guys to deal with and nice auditioning rooms too. They let me have at the guitar for as long as I liked. Did all my paperwork for customs too. Good shop.

I used to live in Rochester (Greece, actually) before I moved to Albany. I was just thinking that Parkway was nice, but nothing like the House of Guitars. I bought several guitars from the HOG, and their service was and still is excellent. Andy Babiuk used to work there (author of Beatles Gear book) and I would go in and talk with him for a long time. He really knows his stuff.

I miss the good old HOG. They have an annual Guitar-fest day with different guitar reps from all the companies, and giveaways, and such, and to make sure I was one of the first 100 people in the door I spent the entire night on their steps. It was REALLY cold in October in Rochester that night, I remember. But, I WAS #1 that day!

Without Andy, it's not the same. I bought 2 guitars from him. Gave me rediculously stupid low prices, and he doesn't know me from a hole in the wall.

I agree, the place has changed. But, they still have great guitars and great prices, and it sure beats the competition in the area (especially Guitar Center). Though Stutzmans was pretty good if you wanted an accoustic guitar.
