Going gold

I want to propose a question here. I have a 1997SPC/VB that is currently stock with white TRC,Guards etc. I have been considering changing it all over to gold guards,trc...with tv knobs. I think it would look great but I am not happy about the whole turning in my white TRC etc. Do any of you have any pointers/hints about doing this right? How did you do this in the past? Suppliers? Thanks

The oven knobs, I don't think, look good on a RoMo. The white plastic makes it look so much like an original, too.

John Biscuti recently added a gold guard and oven knobs to his 1997VB MG, so maybe he can give you some pointers.

Unless you buy a TRC from an individual selling one (such as on Ebay), current RIC policy is to exchange your TRC for another one - After paying a fee. You would have to check with RIC Customer Service for the details on their cuurent exchange policy, as it has been modified over the past several years.

That is going to look great.

Regarding the TRC, even if you wanted to, RIC won't trade gold for white. Has to be the same color. Just keep your eyes peeled on eBay for one, they show up from time to time.

I still say call RIC Customer Service and inquire. This policy has been modified a couple of times since I joined the forum. At one time you could trade for any other TRC that RIC had in their inventory. At another time you couldn't trade a modern TRC for a vintage one. Then we heard that it had to be for the same color. Until a inquiry is made, we don't actually know what the official policy is right now.

OK, so maybe the oven knobs are a little extreme.....I still really want to do the gold thing. I guess I will have to wait for the TRC to come up on ebay. I definately want to keep the white hardware because its OEM and might want to change it back later. I got the idea because somebody on ebay did it to theirs and it looked awesome with the FG and f hole.

Yeah, I that is what i'm going for.....I think it looks great Sloop! Oven knobs it IS! Now I just gotta find that pesky gold TRC!
