Ripper was a good bass, I had one in sunburst. What a pity. You'd think one would become jaded around here, but I always get a little shock at something like that...

I had a Ripper in JG black in the '70s for about three weeks. It sounded great but I just couldn't get on with the feel of the neck so I traded it straight up for a '72 Tele Bass.

I always thought that Gibson bass was uglier than a mud fence as it was; I didn't know it was possible to make it even uglier.
Ah yeah? I love those things. I used to have one, in fact- a blond late 70's Grabber model. I have smaller hands, so I liked the thin neck- plus it had band association, so I was into it for other reasons.

This Gibson is there for ages allready. This is just an outlet store for a torture museum. I've seen this Rick 4005 they have for quite some time and several times overhere also:

Yeah, where the heck does that place get their guitars? The dustbin?

I don't know what's in the tap water in Germany or something, but they have some silly prices for total rubbish like that. Half their inventory is like a hall of shame dedicated to the black art of guitar butchery!

If they came down about $1000 on that 4005, I might consider it. I'm thinking a Blue Boy finish and a pair of Hammon Darkstar pickups.

Edit: Just looked at their BIN. They need to come down about $2000 for me to consider it. :x

Why stop at two? There should be room for four DS pickups.

Haha, I actually think the Ripper is a cool vintage look. Were they all short scales?
