There's a brand new FG 360/6 at my local Ric dealer along with one in MID and JG (which looks charcoal in certain light). The new inlays are positively striking and the way that FG is starting to look could be danger for my cash flow.

Jake, that tells me that you don't exactly need a 1998PT or 1997SPC VB to have The Who's sound. A 1997, a 360, or even a 330 may work until you finish college.

Remember, it wasn't until I was in my late 40s before I got my first Rickenbacker.

I believe it! I walked into the dealer and there were a good 7 or 8 Rics on the wall. Not good...especially now. Those steady paychecks that I've been drawing have been awesome, but being a teacher just doesn't get the big bucks like it should.
