We all know George Harrison owned one and used it 1963. When he was visiting his sister in America, he walked into a music shop, and found it (colored in fireglo) hanging on a wall, and wanted to buy it if it was black. The store owner said that they weren't going to get them in black, but that he could gladly refinish it for George. George picked it up two days later, and gigged with it (weither it made it onto any recordings, I don't know) frequently, sometimes being a backup to his Gretsch 6122 Country Gent, or vise versa. I'm wondering if he used it on "I Want to Hold Your Hand", but that twangy lead guitar sounds so much like his Gretsch.

When the Beatles were in Scotland, it was stolen from the gear van, but recovered about an hour after being stolen (lucky George!). George later gave it away to someone (not sure who he was), who added a 450-style guard and a neck pickup to it.

Kurt actually convinced her to buy it, funny enough...

That was an entertaining video and a very "manly" Gretsch 6120 that Courtney is playing. I can definitely hear the Billy Corgan influences as well as the homage to Cheap Trick. I never gave "Celebrity Skin" a fair listen. The talk at the time was that Courtney was only interested in being a movie star (she had just done "People v. Larry Flint") and that the band had to drag her into the studio to finish the album.

Dusan - I do think that I will pass on the 420. I think that I will buy back the '59 Duo Sonic from the store that I traded it to a few months ago. The owner will probably give me a price close to what he gave me as a trade-in (I'm a good customer). Its a nice little thing in desert sand with maple neck and gold anodized pickguard. I've heard that the p'up's on those are wound to the same specs as Strats from that era, just not with exposed polepieces.

The 420 is on Willie's American Guitars' website. They are a very reputable dealer. They also have a '67 Ric 310 for $8200.
