80's 1993/12 custom?

Post by JakeK »

I posed this question over at the RIC Corporate forum, and I'll pose it here, too...

Does anyone have any info on this guitar:

Whatever became of it, and where are it's whereabouts? If it lives in the RIC factory, and they were selling it on eBay in one of the RIC eBay auctions, I'd be doing what I could to get it! And as soon as I got it, I'd change that crazy trapeze taipiece, to a smaller version.

That's likely a shot from their short "Sam Ash" reissue run, the tailpiece indicating that it was likely a prototype or something that was exclusively "in-house" at RIC at the time, not meant for general sale.

I kinda like the big trapeze, myself. They used to put Kauffmans on the end of those on some F-bodied guitars.

Yeah, but it makes sense on an F because they're so damn big. Looks funky on this.
