Gilmour Fans - Remember That Night

Post by rickenbrother »

The latest video release "Remember That Night" from David Gilmour is must for Pink Floyd / Gilmour fans. David and his band perform Pink Floyd classics as well as his newer songs including some from the cd "On An Island". The band includes Pink Floyd members; Guy Pratt (bass guitar) and Rick Wright (keyboards). Phil Manzanera is also on guitar.
David Crosby, Graham Nash and David Bowie make guest appearances. What's with all the Davids?!?
Gilmour still plays his guitars and sings well. Having a little more effort at times to get to some high notes. His voice still sounds cool though. I don't think he ever got enough credit as a vocalist. Gilmour even plays sax on one tune.
There is behind the scenes footage, even scenes where Gilmour and the band are in one studio and Roger Waters is in the one next door.

David Bowie sang the Waters part on Arnold Layne. Look, RICK CONTENT!! :D

Guy Pratt plays a vintage sunburst Fender Precision on a majority of the tunes, however he plays a Rick that looks like a Mapleglo V63 on "Arnold layne" (DVD 1) and on Gilmour's song "Dominoes" (DVD 2). It sounded like he had flatwound strings on it and got a great tone.

I've had the DVD for a couple of months, Joey and it's an absolute bottler...... I love it!!

Obviously I haven't paid enough attention to Guy as I didn't notice the Rick before. Seems like another viewing is in order this evening!!

You guys are bad..............

Hey Aitch perhaps bring that DVD with you in August. I have not seen it yet. It will be a good one to watch if our abilities falter and we need to get inspired.

Somewhere around here I have a picture of Aitch eyes closed contemplating a mix......................but he wasn't sleeping...........oh no, he says he was wide awake. If I can find the photo I'll let you guys decide which version is right.

I saw this tour twice, once in LA and once in Muncih. It oured cats and dogs during th Munich show.

The DVD probably won't play in US DVD players due to

1) NTSC vs PAL
2) region 2 vs region 4

You'll probably have to bring your laptop over in order to watch it.

PS: The drummer in the band is a very long time friend of mine.

I saw a bit of this being re-run on VH-1 the other night. Nice stuff, especially in light of Mr. Wright's death.

Nice shot you you and Pat, Diane!
