One of the many identities of the Emporer. He likes to spout a lot of propaganda in his ads.
Re: Just When You Thought It Was Safe...
So, if this guitar is a Roger McGuinn Limited Edition, where's the signed pickguard? (Or did I miss something?) And I don't think I like the tone of his advertising write-up.

P.S. I ain't gonna pay no $4K+ for a used Rick when I'll be paying a quarter of that for my new one! Dear Old Mother didn't raise no fools.

It isn't an RM. It's a refinished 1966 model.

Re: Just When You Thought It Was Safe...
I'd agree with the Twain comment, but the ad does have a whopping non-sequitir, and I would want a Ric with a CV as it's a superior coating; the guitar's not an acoustic, or a hollowbody, which nitro really enhances the tone of, though 60s Ricks do have thinner tops, but still, I'd rather have CV. It's a pretty guitar though. The price does not seem too high for a 60s guitar in such nice condition, even a refin, but I'm no authority on this sort of thing.

He used to post photos associated with white supremacist ideology in his guitar auctions, and got a real kick out of sending photos of gas canisters along with some anti-Semitic rants to people who wrote him on eBay.zrob wrote:What's this guy's story?

If you do a search for 'emporer' on the forum, you'll pull up lots of lively discussion about him.
Re: Just When You Thought It Was Safe...
Sounds like a real piece o' work. Yeah, I want to give my money to that guy. NOT!
All I wanna do is rock!

The Emporer Strikes Back!
But yeah, i'd have it stripped and refinished again in CV. I don't think he was trying to say that it was a RM or whatever (note, I'm NOT siding with this lunatic), more saying that it's a mid-60's 370/12 like McGuinn's original Ric.
Well, while some may stick to that argument, it doesn't hold water for most people. His guitar is 42 years older than your new one, it's Vintage and while that term can have different meanings to different people, they generally go for more money. Like...a '57 Chevy goes for 5 times the price of a new Chevy Cavalier or whatever, but it's older!jimk wrote: P.S. Sounds like no matter what you pay, if you send money to this guy your chances of ever seeing the guitar are pretty slim...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
