It was David Hannum who said it:

"Wasnt there someone here on the forum looking specificaly for a black V63?"

Yes and that someone was me. I was keeping quiet on this one, waiting to swoop in at the last minute with a shrewd bid. I'm so ****** this morning, I think e-bay will be the death of me. You can't win this stuff with honest bids of $500 more than they're worth, and then guys end the bidding early for $500 less than they sell for. And right now I've got the cash burning a hole, which isn't always the case. AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Wes...Here,s a little insight into this one and e bay in particular I think...I made the guy an offer early yesterday for more than he stopped the auction for. He told me that he,d already had offers and the starting price was now $1200... would I be prepared to go higher..I told him send me better pics and I,d think about it. He said he would get back to me, and the next thing is that the "auction" is finished. I pretty certain he sold it for more than $925!! While most keep to the E bay format, there are more than enough sellers and buyers working behind the scenes. If you want something bad or you see a deal, you can be sure that someone else does too...and they are probably trying to do buisness the way THEY want to. Some sellers stick to the bay format, but with so many ways to end an auction early, it,s easy for them to take the highest offer and finish early...Frustrating, I agree, but from experience I,ve found that you have to play their game, or else be very lucky...The irony here is that he may still have sold himself short by finshing the auction early, given the recent madness...

I, like Wes, was going to wait and swoop at the last moment. I thought I'd have to pay twice what they said they it sold for. Something seems odd...

Why are my posts not going through?. Anyway, that was my 4003s/8 that I owned for a day. Tried it, didn't like it and threw it up. Mike probably has the black pickup cover and can replace that bridge mute and make it look spiffy for sale.

The guy with the JGv63 e-mailed me saying he wished he knew of my offer for $1500. He had to pay a credit card and just wanted to end the auction. A likely story.

Oh man, wished I'd seen that!!!

Ya gotta love them early 8 stringer bridges with the 'cut-outs' for the strings and above the mute.

Is the former owner aware it is a v63?

Yep ... I told him ... he may not be aware what a v63 is ... and why it is more valuable than a 4003s ...

Jared, I do apologize. In all honesty, I didn't think it would go so fast. I guess out of common courtesy, I should have offered it to the board first.
