I appreciate the nod Aitch but I suppose as the moderator of this forum that I should edit this post as being non sensical. I do agree about naming Trotty though. He's world class. :D

A long white shiny one, but he doesn't live on it. It's tied up in his back yard, the canal.

I wondered how long it would take for the members to start naming each other or themselves here

Forumites excluded, my list is:

1. T-Bone Walker - BB King, Clapton et al all owe him a big due....
2. JJ Cale - so understated, and you know where Mr Knopfler got his tone from...
3. Adrian Belew - From Zappa through Bowie, the Talking Heads to King Crimson, the man is as left-field as they come. Anyone else out there that can make a strat sound like an angry elephant?
4. Adrian's Uncle Bobby - Robert Fripp - he scares me.... and he is actually a lefty who plays righty ...it all makes my brain hurt!
5. Richie Blackmore - no comment necessary
6. Paul McCartney ????????? Dig the lead from Taxman - right up my "weird taste" alley...

Of course, Jimi is out of the list 'cause he's in a class of his own....

A few favorites - really running the gamut here! Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, Robbie Robertson, Ry Cooder, Tom Verlaine, Nels Cline (not always the most tasteful player but he's phenomenal).

Thanks, Evan, I was holding back with Paul. I find his lead work in general to be among the most innovative I've ever heard. He learned to play righty.

+1 Ry Cooder

I would say, the best player I ever saw live was Caleb Quaye, and I've seen tons of great players. It's a free for all in the recorded world,as there are so many great artists, including Caleb, that I would find it impossible to pick one, as their styles all vary. I like Randy Rhodes, Kurt Bloch(Fastbacks), Johnny Thunders(New York Dolls), Eddie Phillips(The Creation) just to name a few, so for me, it would be more like a which guitar player does it for you in which style, or styles.

+1 on Warren Haynes.

I think we need to include Jeff Healey here as well.
