Fall colors

Post by bassduke49 »

This is a great time to view the colors of fall; the maples, the walnuts, the bubingas . . . ?

Thought I would take advantage of what will probably be our last "summer" day here in the great almost-white north and document the fleet. Found a colorful spot on the front deck this time, and shot the trios in bright partly cloudy daylight.

First are three COYs: Montezuma Brown, Sea Green, and Desert Gold

Next are three renditions of Fireglo: a V63, a 4004 Laredo, and an Amber Fireglo

Here are three in the burgundy theme: a 75th Anniversary in Dark Cherry Metallic, the famous "mink" '72, and a 2002 COY Burgundy

Basses in black and white: my recently acquired Shadow, the snow-white V63, and the Blackstar

And the last trio, a Mapleglo, a Cheyenne, and a C64S in Maplematte (or is it Maplenoglo?)

Wow, a beautiful collection, Paul...I'm jealous as all get out.

A question about your 4003 Shadow. Pardon my ignorance as I've never seen one up close and it's hard to tell from the photos, so I'd like to ask:
How is the body bound?
- black with checkerboard?
- white with checkerboard?
- white with no checkerboard?
- none of the above? :)

Also, is the neck unbound or bound in black?

Whatever, it's a very cool looking bass. (The rest aren't too shabby either  ) Thanks.

I really like Paul's collection because it's so well thought out.

One thing that would seem very fall like to me would be a shot of the MB with the AFG...but Paul, feel free to show off your colors any way you want. We're never tired of it.

Thanks, guys. Daniel, the Shadow has checker binding covered with black binding. The neck also has black binding. It is one of 50 or 60 made, depending on who you believe. I asked John Hall if they were made for Guitar Center, and he said yes, they were to commemorate either the number of years or the number of stores, but he couldn't remember which.

Very nice pix and Ricks, Paul.

Which is your go-to bass this week?

Let me know if you'd like to subtract 1 Blackstar from your collection!

:)
