RIP Levi. :(
Those great Motown tunes are among the reasons why I wanted to be a bassist.

This sort of news is depressing. Levi had a huge voice that was instantly recognizable. He was one of a kind and he left us far too early. I have always loved the music that emanated from Motown. It elicited a response deep within my soul. RIP Levi. You were the best.

Whew. When that song was released, it blew across my musical landscape with an edge, both lyrically and musically. I refuse to place you in the attic of my memory, Levi. I will not forget you. Vaya con Dios, amigo.....Goofyfoot.
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

One of the great voices who defiend that period of time and Motown. A soul full of soul, a shame to see him go.

A sad day it is....a true legend who will be sorely missed.

Godspeed Levi. Thanks for the songs and inspiration.

I'll listen to 'Levi Stubb's Tears' (Billy Bragg) today.

Truely a great loss to the music comminity, I also was hooked on motown growing up, like Joey said the bass lines were mesmerising and made me crave to learn how to play the bass, still jam to motown tunes everyweek, James Jamersons basslines and sound are timeless, thanks Levi, you made a difference. Ange, Carol Kaye also played bass on at least one of those Four Tops songs.

This is a bass excerpt from "Bernadette".

Hey Joey my dear friend, how in gods name are you, you know there is a huge contreversy about that, though Carol claims she played that bass line, James Jamersons family claims it was he on that track, if you go on one of the jamerson sites they have a list of all the songs he played thats one of the songs he is credited playing on, so the controversy lives on, take good care and stay safe my dear friend "HAPPY RICKEN"
