A couple of tube/valve questions:

1) What is "getter"?

2) Do these tube dampener rings that are advertised really reduce microphonics?

Maybe, yes, no. Depends on who you talk to. They are supposed to absorb vibrations, which with tubes would modulate the signal, so it couldn't hurt.
