Johnny Marr's dream guitar

Post by 1965 »

I don't know if any of you guys have been watching this new British documentary "The Story of the Guitar", but last night they had J Marr on. I quote:

"I think in all honesty, my dream guitar is a... Rickenbacker 12-string, bout 20 foot long, 20 foot high, through a 20 foot Fender amp. That would be it. A 20 foot Rickenbacker 12-string through a 20 foot Fender amp. I'm gettin there."

Do I smell a future Johnny Marr sig. model?

A 20'X20' signature model would be wild - I'd pick one up. Always been "big" into Johnny Marr

It's cool to see that Johnny is still into the Ricks even though he almost exclusively plays Jazzmasters on stage.

I saw that programme too and was glad to hear Johnny enthusing over Rickenbacker. Glad it got a mention seeing as they were only mentioned last week. That Alan chap clearly has a bit of a thing about Les Paul, not that he is not very important of course, just the Alan man has clearly forgotten HOW important Rickenbacker is to the history of the electric guitar.

Johnny Marr is a star and he has been playing his Ricks a lot when on stage with Modest Mouse when they were supporting R.E.M.

Yeah, I've noticed that, which is kind of cool. For a while there it seemed like he couldn't put down that one Jazzmaster. Always good to see him pull out the 'ol 330 as well.

I had the not so great pleasure of seeing Modest Mouse (can't stand the band) opening for REM twice in June. However, that being said, Mr. Marr is fab. Was very kewl seeing him on stage with REM at the end of the shows.

Maybe, but it will have to be a scaled down model...
