Ric on ebay UK

What do you make of this:

I'm not sure what the colour is.....maybe it's the photgraphy but it doesn't look like Azureglo or Midnight blue to me.

It doesn't appear to have any binding either, though it does have triangular neck inlays...I didn't think one came without the other.

The tailpiece looks black, but it looks like the tuners are chrome.

Marty,
I believe it's a genuine 4003 Midnight Blue BT (black hardwares and body/neck binding) like the '91 example below, but with the guilty and ugly Duncan pickup mod.

Hate those SD's...

Thanks for the explaination and the pics Paul.

It's difficult to see the binding on those ebay pics and the colour doesn't look right, but I suspected that might be down to the photgraphy.

Have to agree with everyones thoughts on the Seymour Duncans...I'd be putting the originals back in if I were buying it.

I have the impression that the blue in a 4003 Mid Blue BT tends to be darker than that of a white trimmed MB. I like the MB BT better than the normal MB.

Here's a '86 example that sports the 2-piece guard. I was surprised to see the 2-piece gurard still being used after 1985 when I saw her on ebay.

A normal 4003 MB.
Does she have a lighter blue?
Or does BT makes the whole bass look darker?
What do you guys think?

It does look strange. Like the split is in the wrong place. Maybe someone cut the original 1-piece guard in two. Here's a split guard that looks "normal" (this is from an eBay auction):
