Original hardcases for left-handed instruments

Post by leftybass »

Did Rickenbacker use the same style case for right and left-handed instruments?? Is it possible that they used a variety of things such as a Fender-style with the thin red-orange lining or did they have a small percentage of lefty cases made up for use?? The time frame I refer to is from the late 60's to the early 70's. My 1979 4001LH has a factory Left-handed case, but were there alternatives at any point??

Leftybass; A 4001 fits easily in a Fender pbass case. Also, there are Rick cases that had "Fender orange" interiors. Not sure exactly when these first showed up and disappeared later. 70s for sure...

Yes it fits quite well and the storage compartment is on the lower right instead of the lower left. Its outside diameter is smaller than the standard Rickenbacker hardshell case of the day, and has been the home for this 4001LH for a long time; I guess it could be original to the bass....
