Ahh...... thanks for that, Jeff. I've never been sure about how it came to be. No doubt we'll talk about all that when she arrives..... well, maybe!!

Well, maybe...? She arrives, or, you'll have time to talk about it?

Yes, Kira. Apparently Jeff's going to bubble wrap her and ship her to me for my birthday!

what a way to walk like an egyptian.....
Re: Susanna Hoffs
IIRC, the song was written by one of the Stone Ponies by the name of Michael Nesmith.winston wrote:I must be going blind..............I did not notice any guitars.
Btw, "Different Drum" was a 1967 hit song performed by The Stone Poneys which featured a young and upcoming singer named: Linda Ronstadt.
There is one of the white 350s in the Rickenbacker 'museum':

Re: Susanna Hoffs
Any idea how many bound 350s were made, Gary?

Howard: Awfully close to 250 I would imagine, plus a limited number of customized instruments including the well-known purpleburst.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Ha! I guess 250 would be very near the mark, Peter.
I left one word out of my question.............. "white"!

You guys are so funny..........

Re: Susanna Hoffs
I love Susanna! I knew that Mike Nesmith wrote "Different Drum" but was he really in the Stone Ponys?
Does anybody know if the neck on the SH model was a little wider near the body than the old 24 fret 350 Liverpool? It might just be an optical illusion due to the inlays, but it looks wider than my 1984 does.

Re: Susanna Hoffs
Mike Nesmith was not in the Stone Poneys. The actual band was a limited number of guys but, according to legend, Glenn Frey and Don Henley played in the backing band on the recording, not in the actual group. They later formed the Eagles with Bernie Leadon (older brother of Tom Leadon, who just recently played on Mudcrutch with Tom Petty). Bernie Leadon, before he was in the Eagles, was in the Flying Burrito Brothers with Chris Hillman, who was, of course, a founding member of the Byrds, and lead singer for the Desert Rose Band, which featured John Jorgenson, who played a Ric 450/12.............. we're dizzy.
(So, in other words, this song has everything to do with Rickenbackers!)
