Any Beatles Collectors out there?

Post by beatlefreak »

Do you collect Beatles records? Memorabilia? Books and magazines? Tickets? Unique, one-of-a-kind, or high-end collectibles? Let's hear from you - Tell us about your collection.

I've been a Beatles collector for most of my life, but more seriously since the early eighties. Mostly I have records, and the vast majority of these are U.S. pressings, and I concentrate on the various label variations. I have about 1,000 albums, about half of these are Beatles collective and solo releases. I also have about 500 singles, and most of these are Beatles and solo. Some are fairly rare, some of the albums are factory sealed.

I also have several pieces of memorabilia (though not anything very rare), and quite a few books on the Beatles. I never got into all the magazines.

You put me to shame Kris. Frank Trevino used to have a huge Beatles collection. I remember him telling me he was going to sell some or all of it off. I haven't spoken to him in years.

Thanks to Brammy, I now have a great collection of Beatle photographs!
As with most of us, i have had a fascination with The Fabs since i was 4 years old. Imagine my joy when i purchased Aitch's Jetglo 350 Liverpool, the closest i'll ever come to Johns guitar. Darren and Robyn Trott gave me a python strap to compliment the 350. My sons "bought" me a Hofner beatle bass this year, and my wife completed that side of my collection when she gave me a Beatles 22inch drumhead. My FG 360 is near enough to George's 65 12 string!
I used to have all the albums on vinyl, but have since transferred to cd's. All their movies, concerts and docos on DVD. Countless books, and some framed prints around my office. Novelty items such as the cartoon figurines sit in a display cabinet. T-shirts,etc. I'm sure there is more, but can't think of it right now.
I"ve also had the pleasure of owning 4 Rickenbacker guitars over the past 3 years, and that definitely IS influenced by The Beatles.

Not a whole lot but, in addition to the two, framed LPs and curios I posted in the O.P.P. Patch thread, I have all the LPs (late
'70s Capitol), French pressings of The Beatles on white vinyl, 1962-1966 on red vinyl and 1967-1970 on blue vinyl. (The Sgt
Peppers picture disc is in one of the frames).

Then there's the Anthology DVD pack and book, and the following books: Beatles Recording Sessions, Recording The Beatles
and Beatles Complete Score. I HAD a '77 Rickenbacker 4001 and a '67 Hofner 500/1 - the ones that got away. (Didn't appreciate
them enough as a twenty year old in '78...)

And because I'm a Beatles geek, memories of two self-guided (my wife would say "inflicted") walking tours of The Beatles
London. Stood in the control room at Trident Studios and have one framed photo of me crossing Abbey Road! :D

I just read Paul McCartney's head was found in a dumpster by a homeless guy...

Hooray! I wondered where that thing had gotten to...now maybe Paulie will be able to write some real songs again...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Lots of original bootlegs.... which at the time (70's) were really cool since nobody but bootpeople had ever heard that material. Nowadays, of course, they are just curiosities since all (or at least the vast majority) the material is out there in one form or another.

I, too, have a number of boots, but the ones I collect are the better made ones - printed covers (as opposed to the blank white covers with a copied sheet of paper with the name and song titles), printed labels, etc.

I guess most of us are "collectors" by default. The boys were/are Rickenbacker's poster children....My cousin bought a '64 RM1997 and b16a amp new to get "The Sound" which I ultimately inherited. Those items were mine to take care of long before I received them, but they definitely sent me down the road in searching for almost anything Beatle related. I'm sure I'll forget to post something here, but here's some of it{

All albums by them as a group
All cds as a group, including a few bootlegs
All their films on laser disc, dvd and some vhs
The Franklin Mint series of music boxes
The Franklin Mint series of "Late 60s Beatle plates
Several different posters
Several different blanket/rugs Rubber Soul/Sgt Pepper/Anthology
Johns Pepper uniform
Several different shirts
The re-released card set (basically two full sets)
Aside from Ringo's drums,I have owned or do own all of their guitars, Currently I have:
Lennon Revolution (Original release)
Rick 360/12v64
'64 Tennessean
Gibson j160e
'63 Vox ac30
'65 Vox ac15
Fender Strat in Sonic Blue

It's crazy the amount of different items that are related to these guys, but also shows what affect they still have on us. They still have a hold on me, and probably always will!

I also might add that being a collector/fan as i am, it certainly makes it easier for friends and family to decide what to get you for Xmas and birthdays! Gone are the days of "I have no idea what to buy for you!" :D

I have Ringo and I keep him in in the basement. I'm negotiating for Pauly, but he wants a womb with a view.... I said "Who do you think you are, a test tube baby?".

Well then, tell Ringo to start signing autographs again.
