Re: Suspicious looking bass
What is the definitive answer to when Rickenbacker switch the 4000 to set neck construction?
Re: Suspicious looking bass
Jeff, I'm not sure there were ever any skunk stripe neck-thru 4000 basses....

The only things consistant with any given model of Rickenbacker are the changes through the years.cheyenne wrote:I've always assumed that this was something "consistant" through the years.

Re: Suspicious looking bass
I've seen one. Can't remember if it was a 4000 or a 4001S. I think it was a 4001S because it was on eBay and I was very tempted to bid on it (I'm a two pickup guy!) I love the skunk and I love the S and this one made quite an impression on me! It was a very early skunk striper though. Late '72, maybe early '73. Grovers and plexi TRC. Mojo'd Fireglo! Ahhh....the one that got away.....johnallg wrote:Jeff, I'm not sure there were ever any skunk stripe neck-thru 4000 basses....

Re: Suspicious looking bass
Im disappointed in you guys.......I expected to get to page 3 and the forumites would have the story all sherlock holmes done...I count on you guys to know all things Rickenbacker.....instantly . I need closure here
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !
Re: Suspicious looking bass
I still say fake.
There's no apparent route for the neckpup,, and it has deluxe features ruling out the possibility of it being a 4000 model. What else could it be????
Prove me wrong people.

Never look a gift axe from an 'old hippie guy' in the truss rod cavity...
If it is a faker, I'd offer to buy it cheap...then paint it up crazy and hang it on a wall...non-playable art!
...or rent a steam roller and make a memorable youtube clip...
