Vintage Ludwig drum questions

Post by kennyhowes »

Hey drummer people -

Who here knows the different satin flame finishes offered by Ludwig, or knows where I can see a vintage catalog w/swatches? I have a line on such a kit and want to read up.

I'm not a drummer, just an internet geek of sorts. Always remember, Google is your friend.

I googled ludwig drum satin flame finish and got

http://www.jamminsam.com/satin_blue.htm

There are descriptions and color samples for a few different ones there, don't know if these are official Ludwig though. I'm sure there are other places as well...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Although that particular site doesn't list it, the magic word I was looking for was charcoal...I do believe that's the term for the kit I've got my eye on. Thanks!

Turns out they weren't Ludwig drums after all, just some crummy drums with a satin flame re-wrap and a couple of Ludwig cymbal mounts on the kick drum. :(

I am now officially on the lookout for a different satin flame kit. Pref. in peacock SF with a matching snare. :)
