Blues Trivia
Re: Blues Trivia
"Alternative American names for the mojo bag include hand, mojo hand, conjure hand, lucky hand, conjure bag, trick bag, root bag, toby, jomo, and gris-gris bag. In the Memphis region, a special kind of mojo, worn only by women, is called a nation sack. A mojo used for divination, somehwat like a pendulum, is called a Jack, Jack bag, or Jack ball."
I was thinking of a gris-gris bag, Dane....... also referred to as a 'mojo hand'.
Am I wrong?

Re: Blues Trivia
Well, now I'm thinking you might be right, Howard...I'd never heard of the two terms being interchangeable, but perhaps they are.
Any Creole witches or pagans want to weigh in on this and 'straighten us out'?
(I mean figuratively, of course...)

I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Re: Blues Trivia
Complete the last line of these lyrics to find the name of the song:
"But If I ever get on my feet again,
Then I'll meet my long lost friend,
It's mighty strange, without a doubt,
______"?
and;
Who wrote the song?
and;
What blues artist in more recent years made the song very popular again with a great cover version albeit with slightly altered lyrics?

Re: Blues Trivia
In 1957 there was a group of young Memphis musicians which included B.B. King, Earl Forest, Rosco Gordon, Bobby "Blue" Bland and John Marshall Alexander (AKA Johnny Ace).
What was the name of this group and what was the name of the song on their record?
Here's a hint. The fellow who wrote the song on their record was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. Not bad for a man who at one time was valet and chauffeur for B.B. King.

Re: Blues Trivia
The correct answer was Further on Down the Road. It was recorded by hall of famer Bobby "Blue" Bland in 1957.
Bland was one of the Beale Streeters. This was a group of young Memphis musicians which included B.B. King, Earl Forest, Rosco Gordon and John Marshall Alexander (AKA Johnny Ace). Bland hit number one on the R&B chart with this song.
