Groups you wish would reunite!

Post by ajish4 »

I guess I'm just feeling that middle life stage, not crisis....yet.....but am wondering and wishing WHY don't these killer bands with all the members still alive don't reunite for one final recording.

Still feeling the sting from Richard Wright from Pink Floyd passing, and Jon Anderson's recent illness, here is my short list of all ORIGINAL members who are still with us and HOPING they would get together just ONE MORE TIME for a show and or studio recording....and yours are?

Clarence
...all gone.

Cream, Spencer Davis and The Hollies would top my list. All with their original members of course. I should add that if the remaining members of the Byrds were to reunite that would be another great day in the world of music.

Sorry to be a dissenting voice, but my answer is — none. Because if some of the key members of the band have passed away, it wouldn't make sense and may look pitiful. And if all the ex-members are alive, and if they don't feel like reuniting, playing together, remembering good old days, then probably there are still some strains and hard feelings, so, from the side (that is from the point of the audience), it may look as if people who actually hate each other, won't talk to each other and are not willing to be on stage together have reunited "just for money" or something. I think a good performance requires joy and will to play from all involved — that creates a special atmosphere, and that is fantastic. If it's impossible, reunion doesn't make sense in my view.
Just my $ .02.

The Kinks...the original lineup was so good, all the Quaife songs were so classic!

The Jam

Blondie

It would be nice if Michael Steele from the Bangles would tear herself away from the Northern CA tidepools she lives amongst and rejoined the rest of the ladies.

Can't think of another group whose original members are all still alive except the Pistols, and they've done it already at least once.

But sometimes it was the tension in the band in the first place that was the imputes for the great music.

I'd like to see Deep Purple Mark II reunite for a record or a tour, but I don't think Gillan or Blackmore want to be in the same State nevermind band. I'd also like the Smiths to re-unite but again Morressey and Marr in the same room, doubt it. I have found for the most part you can not come home again. The past was the past. You can remanis the old times, but the band are not the same people they were when they created the music and you are not the same person as when you first heard it. But that said it's still magic when I hear Deep Purple play Smoke on the Water.

Buffalo Springfield. They top my shortlist of the ones that I'd want.
