being sold at twelfth fret in Toronto...

I'm not quite sure but it it's pretty beat up regardless, no shedua, the binding doesn't look right and the bridge has obviously been switched

Seems legit to me, but of course would want to see the serial number etc. ...

It's real. It has no skunk because it is an opaque finish.

Serial number is PJ 6981 (Oct, 1976)

Who would DO that to a bridge pickup surround and why?!

I got a '79 in the same colors in slightly worse condition for $700 four years ago. Paul W brought it back from the dead for me. They're a nice bass. Strip all that **** off and the skunk stripe will be there.

at that price it'd make sense and then put work into it...

The surround was cut to allow the strings to clear because the BadAss sits so much lower, and probably complicated by and because of the rods needing to take an upbow out of the neck.

In that condition, way overpriced. It may be relic'd with a lot of mojo, but unless your name is Fro, this one needs work and parts.
