She sure did Jeff, I hate to say it, so did I! LoL!

So, to try to get this back on thread, does anyone know when & WHY RIC decided to not clear coat the 4004Cii?

Also, didn't Dane make a 4004 fretless? I can't recall seeing a pic of that project. I'm not sure how they would sound.
If I like the 4004Cii like I'm hoping I will, I'd like to get a player and convert it to fretless but I guess a 4004L would be better for this application?

Thoughts?

I had my 4004Cii MG converted to fretless. The frets were pulled and replaced with strips of plastic cut on the same radius as the board. A very thin epoxy was then brushed on till it would soak in no longer. After that, I filled the bridge pickup route and made a 4002 spec guard with two pickups replacing the one. The pickups are now in roughly the same positions as a 4004LK. The bridge pickup gets it's own tone and volume while the other two are wired to the selector swith with a master tone and volume between them. Joey played it a bit at this years SoCal RIC Fest. I think Graham played it during Big Bottom too.

How about a full-frontal picture of this bass, Dane? I did see the edge of it in a picture from the California meeting, and was curious to see what the whole thing looked like.
