Sergio,
Thanks for the pointer. A little prying, a little twisting, and a little shaving, and it drops right in.
But since you were wondering why I'm putting a high-gain on a '62: I didn't have any pickups at all when I started. Since there is some hope that I may yet get the original toaster tops (he swears he has them; he just doesn't know where), I thought I'd try something else. Even more to the point, they're available. Given Ric's inability to fill the parts pipeline, available is good. I've been waiting months for a humbucker, and just found out I might be waiting a while longer. I needed some pickup (any pickup) to verify my routs before I started the refin. When a cheap high-gain became available, I jumped on it.
BTW, do you (or does anyone) know if the guitar humbucker is the same pickup used in the Ric basses (e.g. the Cheyenne and the Laredo)?

You want to put that where?
Adam, the high gains on my 1981 460 (the 625's little cousin) sound absolutely great. Of course, on the 460 they are mounted to the pickguard and not directly to the body, so that may wind up making a difference in sound quality ...
It is better, of course, to know useless things than to know nothing. - Seneca

You certainly are in good Forum tonight."that may wind up making a difference"

Good idea Jwr2. I am sure you won't leave ohm without it.
