Thanks, John, for the great guide posted here!

I'm resurrecting this thread because I have a couple of questions about this mod, and with such a great step-by-step guide, I thought this would be the place to ask them.

My questions are regarding the wire used for this mod. What gauge wire is it? And, for those of you who have done this mod, where did you get the wire? I'm thinking it's best to get it somewhere that will sell it by the foot, since I'd hate to buy a 25' spool just to use an inch or two of wire. I was actually in Lowe's today with a soldering iron in hand walking the electrical aisle for wire, but I reconsidered because I wanted more info, and because I don't think my push/pull pot has even shipped from RIC yet, so there's no need to buy the tools right this second.

Thanks in advance!

The wire I use when wiring RICs is 22 gauge wire in red and green. I buy it in 6' lengths from GuitarElectronics.com. Part#WA1-26 for Red and #WA1-22 for Green. When wiring a push-pull pot into a bass for coil tap or vintage tone applications, I replace the volume pot instead of the tone pot. The reason is that you want a full size pot for tone with it's slightly higher quality, and the mini pot for volume. This would mean using a 250K pot in a 4003.

Thanks for the advice, Dane!

So, it would be better to use the 500k push/pull pot from RIC (http://www.rickenbacker.com/cart.asp?vi ... lectronics) as the Treble volume pot? That means I'd have to move the cap from in front of the treble tone pot to being wired into the treble volume pot, correct?

I'd use a 250K push pull solid shaft pot from an after market source. I'd only use a 500K push pull in the volume position for a humbucking pickup. I believe the schematic for the .0047 cap would still be the same though, only it would be wired to the push pull being used as a volume.
