Re: Carnival of Light
I read that today, too, but as the article mentions, he'd have to clear it with Ringo, Yoko and Olivia first. I do wonder how they would release it, though. I suppose they could put out an 'avant garde' EP with Carnival of Light, the full 25-minute Helter Skelter, an unedited What's the New Mary Jane, and a remix of Revolution 9 or something? Or perhaps it would be a bonus track on a 50th Anniversary Sgt. Pepper Box?
Re: Carnival of Light
A bonus track on on the 50th Anniv. Sgt. Pepper box set would be a fantastic idea!
I also caught the pending approval from Ringo, Yoko & Olivia... but I don't see why they would object to this piece being released especially if Paul is enthusiastic about it. The question does remain how it would be packaged.
Has anyone on this board ever heard it?

Re: Carnival of Light
I think that it would be great for them to offer a collection of the extended cuts of some of the songs that haven't seen the light of day, having been edited down for the Anthology series. It could be called The Beatles: Raw (or some such title), where it would be made up of the extended jams and songs that haven't made it yet. The full version of 12 Bar Original, Carnival of Light, Helter Skelter and some others, if there are any could be a part of this.
Re: Carnival of Light
From the description of it, it sounds like it'll be a one-listen curiosity. I fear we'll all be sorely disappointed with this thing..... unlike the long version of Helter Skelter for instance which would be great to hear.

Re: Carnival of Light
Isn't the reason it's been unheard all these years because Macca didn't like it?
At least he has bragging rights to the first "avant garde-ist" of the fabs.

That would mean it won't come out for eight and a half years.jamie wrote:A bonus track on on the 50th Anniv. Sgt. Pepper box set would be a fantastic idea!

With reference to the Beatles' legacy, Apple is wise to think in decades instead of years or months, but sadly, I wouldn't put it past them to make us wait till 2017
All I wanna do is rock!

Whoa! I wasn't doing the math when I responded to that. That would mean it won't come out for eight and a half years.
Not expecting to be blown away by this track but it was always a missing piece that was talked about frequently and it will be nice to finally hear it for better or worse.
...2017 perhaps the Let It Be DVD/Blue Ray w/extra scenes might see the light of day?

By then Blue Ray will be old technology...jamie wrote:...2017 perhaps the Let It Be DVD/Blue Ray w/extra scenes might see the light of day?

Re: Carnival of Light
I find it interesting that so many people have talked about this track for years and would like to see it out. I belong to a Beatles Collectors Group on Yahoo, and it seems most everyone would like to hear this. Even the ones who can't stand Revolution 9, which this track is supposedly similar to.
In The Beatles Recording Sessions by Mark Lewisohn, he writes:
In The Beatles Recording Sessions by Mark Lewisohn, he writes:
Geoff Emerick recalls this most unusual session. "When they had finished George Martin said to me 'This is ridiculous, we've got to get our teeth into something a little more constructive'."
