This one started with thinking about the songs I used to sing in Church. It's not what you call rock and roll. Just an offering I've been meaning to make. Hope it's good for you

It's based on a prayer in the Eastern Orthodox church that is from the second century liturgy, and then I added some mixed-up nursery rhymes.

Here's the words:

All the software instruments are out-of-the-box GarageBand plugins except for the Boldt Grand Piano and rainstick, and the Fitch Cello plugins.

I guess I got to be the 1st to hear this Kira... I really really love the intro, spoken word section and outro. On first listen I'm finding the more experimetal instrumental piece from around 3 minutes to four minutes a bit confronting, maybe because I'm a poppy two and a half chord melody/two minute song junkie. I need another listen or two to get my head around it.

I am awestruck at the achievement - it sounds like you recorded the chant vocals in a cathedral. The production quality is top-notch. Brain Eno would be proud!

Don't get me wrong Kira - I like the challenging stuff - but I need three or so listens to take it in. As I've aged, my attention span has become incredibly short... ummm....er...

Scotty, I'm glad you like it. It's been way too long since I lived in Europe. I kinda had a notion about this song that the Europeans (including Brits) would find it more accessible than the Yanks do. I dunno, something about a higher general awareness of art history and such as is enjoyed by your average European schmo, is impressive to me. In America your average person under 25 thinks Michaelangelo is a turtle, you know. It's not just the educational system, either, Europeans make more time in their lives for art and music, it seems in recollection. I'm not trashing Americans, but our culture has different imperatives.

One of her best albums is 'Hounds Of Love.' It's incredibly diverse. It sounds like a "best of" album, and in some ways may be just that, but unintentionally.
