INTERESTING CASE...

Post by jingle_jangle »

This was a listing for a "Belgian-made" (!) Rick bass in Brasil's version of Ebay.

So now we have fake Rickenbacker cases too? Or did RIC ever make cases like that?
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

6 out of the 8 existing trappist ales come from Belgium I just read so there's a pretty good chance it is nearby a trappist brewery.

Now I know why RIC doesn't have form-fitting cases. The horns make for a truly hideous looking case.

Well, we know it's not a gennie RIC case, because RIC would NEVER use TIMES ROMAN BOLD, badly-spaced, as their corporate symbol.

But, imagine--some schmoe somewhere ran off a bunch of cases with a non-licensed Rickenbacker ID...smacks of China...

Looks like the kind of case made for a Gibson Thunderbird Bass.

The text is not only the wrong font and badly spaced but its poorly positioned and sized. The case is just all wrong from the shape to the lettering. I wonder if the bass is real?

That's the question that's begged, and the listing and photos are vague; I suspect a refinish on a mid-'70s 4001.

TRC looks like wrong shape, and lettering at bottom is too wordy. The FG looks too bright and the paint is opaque (real FG is translucent). Tuners are wrong, of course...He's looking for R$5800.00, about US$2500.00. That's EXPENSIVE for Brasil

Listing says "1960". I don't think so...

The fretboard looks too dark for a legit Rickenbacker. I'd say a its a faker.
