Octave Up Pedal

Post by MichaelStewart »

I am shopping for effects pedals for my 4001.

Has anyone had any experience with pedals that will double the note you play one octave higher, similar to what an 8-string does?

I was wondering if there was a way to get close to the sound without actually buying or having to switch to an 8-string.

Thanks!

Pedals like this Boss OC-3 Octaver should give you the effect you are looking for and more.

There are pedals available from several manufacturers. There are also multi effect pedals made for bass guitars that will have an octaver settting. Bring your 4001 to a music store that has a good assortment of effects pedals to try out, to hear which one you like best. The given effect might not sound exactly like an 8 string bass, but it will be close.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

EHX POG. It can simulate 12 strings also and it octaves down also. And it tracks better than any octaver I have ever used. It saved me an 8 stringer. :)

The MicroPog is great too, smaller size, only 1 octave up and 1 octave down (both at the same time if you like). Tracks beautifully, works well on bass. These are not cheap pedals, but they're really good at what they do.
