Craig,
Isn't this your second bad experience recently? Weren't you the one who picked up a 480 you fell out of love with and had to unload it for a loss? I hope not.
As for the PIC grain enhancement question, I am a lawyer (unfortunately) and I'd say your case is a close question but depends on jurisdiction (where it was sold from and where it was shipped to). Generally, you can "... puff" as long as you do you not misrepresent a material fact... "This car is the greatest Porsche ever made. It sure is rare." Vs. "This car has never had flood damage or been wrecked." (This is in the USA, that is).
You certainly have a good argument that by "... enhancing" the grain, you were tricked into paying more than fair market value, and the seller knew that. Otherwise, why would he/she/it have done it. The thread here is evidence that you were mislead and what it cost you.
As for posting the seller name here, I agree that you do not want to get into that kind of sticky mess. On the other hand, no one wants to see another guitar guy/gal (particularly one of us) tricked like this. Hopefully, this post is enough warning. If not, you may consider another post showing the guitar as pictured along side a picture you took as received, with the name of the seller, and of course the proverbial tongue in cheek disclaimer that you must not be as good a photographer. Truth is the absolute defense.
Sorry they got you, but at least it is a nice 330... If you like those sorts of things, that is. Now, had this been a 360 (not some crummy bottom of the line 330 with no inlays or binding), I'd really be steamed and I've be volunteering my legal services to you.
Take it easy,
JKC

Re: Check out this grain
Thank you, counselor. From now on I will definitely focus on the top of the line, the creme de la creme, the proverbial top shelf model 360 ( the ones that come with free legal service ) rather than those bottom feeding hoi polloi 330 models that lead to nothing but trouble!!
Seriously though, I'm a cup half full kinda guy.....bottom line is that I've got a beautiful new guitar. I'm extremely fortunate that the few hundred dollars over spent is not going to have any serious effect on my life.
I find the rest of this story very interesting, however.
It appears as if my little code in my post on the 5th (3:58) went largely un-noticed.

I hope you left G & E an appropriate feedback. Although when I had a dispute with a seller about the condition of a guitar I bought, I politely worded an emil that I wanted to be fair and accurate when leaving feedback. He sent me some check for a mutually agreed amount. I was happy, I am not sure if he was. We both left positive feedback responses.

Craig,
Thanks for your reply. When you get your head out of the gutter and start buying real Rickenbackers with binding, and inlays, and Rick-O-Sound, and everthing else that is civilized, call me and we'll talk. In the meantime, please learn to walk upright (instead of on all fours).
Kidding and in all seriousness, looks like a nice one. Just pisses me off when folks pull that kinda ****. As if we've nothing else to do but worry about being screwed with every transaction. Your "honest" PICs show a good grain that will probably get better with age... That's alright. You can use the down time to pick up a 360 JetGlo or FireGlo and find out what things are really about.
JKC
PS I hope you know I am totally messing with you and wish you the best. It is a nice one and I am sorry for the incident but happy you can "... glass half full it" in perspective.
PPS "Rick-O-Sound" is a stereo output jack. It allows you to send some signals to one amp or line, and then others to... Ahhhhh, nevermind.

Well, the link is posted...it was perpetrated.lovecity wrote:I thought that was the case.
Is it against the rules to say on which site this little trick was perpetuated?
When we discuss it here, it is being perpetuated.

Clever wordplay Paul!
