Vox Mark XII

Post by octagon »

What do you think? It's a Mark XII circa 1965 It's a little worn but not too bad.It is all original and it has all the parts(bridge cover is in the case) except for the tremolo spring.the only is it has a repaired crack in the headstock(through the bass side tuners). The price was about the same as the cost of a new Phantom Guitarworks 12-string with a case.

Yes; the same model and color. And, of course, I'm a huge Echo and the Bunnymen fan! This is actually the second red hollowbody teardrop XII I've owned; I bought my first in `84, before I'd ever seen Will play one, then "Ocean Rain" and all the videos came out and Will was playing one, so I was really glad I bought the guitar. Some time later I traded the Vox for some other gear, and came to regret it, but was unable to re-acquire the guitar, so I spent quite awhile finding the one I currently own. I won't be selling this one!!!

And of course The Paul Marsh from The Mighty Lemon Drops had one in Tobacco Sunburst:

Thanks for the posts! I don't have it yet cuz I just bought it on ebay yesterday.Maybe next week.My JG Rick 360v64/6 will arrive on Monday but I probabley will have to let it "defrost" for a day or two.I guess I will have to do the same for the Vox so it doesn't get any more "weather checking".

There's probably a spot for that in the guest gallery in Roger T's Voxguitar.net

Thanks! That would be cool.I spoke the Roger by email a couple of times before and after I bought my Vox.He is a nice guy and really knowledgable about Vox.He told me that mine is a 1965.Mines not as nice as his but still,I'm really happy to have found one that I could afford.

Hi Mitch, Im relatively new to the Forum. Just love it. I too am a pretty decently big Echo fan. I also used to own a Vox acoustic mlk VI 6 stringer that was stripped in its finish. I later traded it for a Gretsch Corvette 4+2. The only Vox I own now is a slope shouldered Folk 12 acoustic. They are really terrific. I think I saw a clip of Will playing one of those white Phantom's...may have been "stormy weather". Good luck on you quest for more Voxes. :D I think there was a guy in the Fuzztones Rudy Protrudi was his name. He was always known for having the biggest Vox collection. I wonder what happened to him :?

Oh Cool.I remember the Fuzztones from when I used to work at a record store in the 80's.The guy who owned the store had a "paisley underground" band called "The Not Quite" and he played some shows with the Fuzztones.
