4003 S8 spotted for sale

Post by gareth »

OK folks,

I'm on tour in the UK right now, and on my day off, I've been trolling around the Denmark St. music stores. In Wunjo Guitars there's a very nice 1991(as new) fireglo 4003 S8 eight string for 1495 English pounds. With the pound at it's weakest against the dollar in 10 years, this would actually be a reasonably good buy for a US forumite.

Now, here's the bonus. If one of you want to get it, I can go pick it up and bring it back after Dec 16th, thereby avoiding shipping and import charges. You can then pay for it to be shipped to you from CA. If anyone does do this, I strongly suggest that you insure the bass prior to shipping, because I can't be responsible for what United might do to it in the hold.

If you're interested, go to http://www.wunjoguitars.com and check them out. If you want to get it, let me know and I could pick it up on Monday Dec 15th. I'm flying back to CA on Dec 16th.

Here's the bass - http://www.wunjoguitars.com/gallery.php ... 7&prod=750

There's also an Electro 450 and a 1966 450/12 in Denmark St. too, but I'm only bringing one back ! :)

Well I am glad I had a look on the site today. Just bought the bass. I have a mate in the U.K., he's picking it up for me and bringing home safe and sound. Many thanks for posting this great find. I have been looking for one of these for sometime. It turns out the bass was obtained from a collector who does not play —he just collects, so the thing is in pristine condition. Thanks again fellow forumite!!

P.S. there is one for sale on eBay at the moment. It has had some modifications but I think it will go for a good price. I would have bid on it, but I tend to look for unmodified examples.

Peace to all Forumites! Happy holiday boys and girls!

Congratulations ! I don't think you'll be dissappointed, the bass is damn near perfect. I amost bought it myself and no good would have come from that.

It's the best result all around. I find it, you buy it, and I don't have to carry it over

She's a beaut and congrats! I don't think she's a 1991 though. Closer to 2001, I'd say.

Thanks all, can't wait to plug it into my Ampeg and hear it growl! It will make a great addition to my Blueburst 4003, but my poor old Fender P will be getting so lonely now ... sorry to slip out the F word ...

Peace,
M.

Hey Trotty's looks sweet too, I'm sure it will make someone happy, and as he said— hopefully a fellow Forumite —don't want to see it go to some eBay flipper.

Ah, Austrialia...
We really want to go there, sounds like an amazing place to visit, but not going to happen in the near future unless we win the lottery (to which there is exactly 0% chance as we don't even buy tickets, that's even worse than the 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance you get when you DO fill them...)

Anyways - the thought did cross my mind, putting aside the logistical issues of shipping from Oz - I just bought a 5002V58 on the bay, telling my wife I want to buy another 8 stringer (of the longer kind this time) before this one even arrives would be painful as I do prefer the bed over the couch :)
So long and thanks for all the fish!
