Hey, get back to work!

Post by kiramdear »

Pardon my cluelessness, please

It's just idle curiosity but I'm wondering how many people are tuning in during working hours, and what's the policy about that where you work?

I haven't worked in an office job since before they had internet so I'm wondering if they give you surf breaks or do they just look the other way if you get your work done well? Is it like sneaking in a personal phone call?

How does that work out for you?

The only thing I tune in at work is the radio.

No computers at the lab, just good old Omega and Saltzman enlargers.

I post from work during lunch time if I'm not going out for lunch. Many times when I post from work, I'm on my own personal laptop using an independent wireless network.

Umm....... er........ yeah, I sneak in usually once or twice a day at work but I have to keep my eyes on the boss. Luckily I face his office door so I know when he's coming my way!! :P :P :P :P

No internet at work.

I usually post from class. Guess I should look up and pay attention, but this is often more educational anyways...

Partly I work from home (lesson prep.), so nobody cares. The rest of the time I'm teaching. And there is no computer that's available to me at the school anyway. Anyhow, I mostly visit the RRF late at night.

Hmm, well, I guess it depends on which job and the time of year. For my full time job, I can't really look at the net. I don't have a computer in the tractor and my Wi-Fi net doesn't really have the range. Besides, I'm usually just too busy especially during irrigation season or harvest.

Now, for my "day job", which is only 40-50 hours/week and needed to support my farming habit, I work from home designing IC's (computer chips). There's a lot of time sitting waiting for various simulations and such to get done, so I tend to "surf" a fair amount.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

ummm, yes actually a lot of my posting time is done at work,as i sit at a computer terminal for the full 8 hours, and i just zip in here between business transactions....after sitting at a computer 40 hours a week,i don't tend to want to even look at one when i'm at home....checking in here helps my sanity at work so that's a good thing....and i would NEVER let it compromise my productivity,(in case anyone in management sees this)

I'm visiting from work at the moment. I'll normally swing by during planning period or homeroom.

I work as a receptionist on Saturdays and business has been dreadfully slow lately, so I find myself pretty much opening up the forum in the morning and clicking "refresh" for six hours.

It certainly didn't start out that way when I started, but since about 1999-2000 my buisness has largely transferred it's activity to internet commerce......so yes I'm on and off all day, I stare at a PC so it's clickety-click ......in the evenings and weekends at home it's hit and miss.....
