Long Lost RIC
Hello All,
I have been on a mission for several years to locate my original 4001. Today I finally found the serial number of the missing bass! It's NK 6849. This 4001 has been missing since 1991 or early 1992 in the Dekalb Illinois area. This bass is most likely an AutumGlo but almost has the color of a 2-tone '57 P-Bass. It also has a matching gold colored pickgard and Rickenbacker Logo plate. This bass also has a Horseshoe Pick up. Somewhere in my stuff I have pictures of the bass and hopefully will be able to post one. It was last seen with a Vintage Silver case. Thanks so much for reading this! If anyone is looking for their long list Ric I would be happy to keep my eyes out for you. Thanks again everyone!!!

Welcome to the forum, Jay
We'll keep our eyes peeled for your bass. Pictures would help a lot.

Welcome, Jay! Can you tell us if your "missing" bass was stolen or sold away? It is possible to be reunited with an old love. We have a pretty substantial registry here, as well, although I'm not sure if the serial numbers are visible in the registry (they are in the database, however). And yes, detail photos would help if you have them.

Welcome to the group Jay!
I've been on a similar quest for my original '74 4001 Mapleglo. Unfortunately I had to sell it to pay bills a while back. I don't have the serial number anywhere so I'll have a bit tougher time.
Good luck on your hunt!
Oh, I checked your serial number in the register search, not found.

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Long Lost RIC
Thanks so much All!!!
It was traded in error. Our band was going on the road and I was working on a trade for a 4001 '63 reissue. Being extremely Lazy, One of my friends said he would go pick up the new bass for me. What I didn't know was that my "long Lost Ric" was swapped for my other bass I was planning on trading a badly yellowed 4001 Serial number TL1921. Same looking cases. Since I was so excited about the new 4001 v63 re issue I didn't bother looking in the other Ric case. It was about a month later I found out the error. I felt like the biggest idiot! I have looked through the register and haven't seen the serial number anywhere. I will keep my eyes posted. I feel very honored to be a part of your forum! I can't imagine a better interest group! Thanks again!
