IRWO at the Uptown, St. Pete, FL Dec 19 2008
Hey gang. It Rhymes With Orange will be playing at the Uptown in downtown St. Petersburg, FL next Fri, Dec 19. If you're around, please check us out! Cigar Box Heroes will open the show.
This is the closest thing I could find to a useful link for the venue:

We are also playing tonight, Wed, Dec 10 from 10:00-10:15pm at the Wooden Door in South Tampa to "open" for Mark Creasy. Just kind of a hanging out chillin' thing.

I assume IRWO will be the host band at SERFJAM '09?

I think that is a distinct possibility.

Thanks guys!

We had our first electric rehearsal in a while. Funny thing is I'm using an acoustic simulator for almost half the songs. It's nice to be playing with bass and drums again, even if they're tracks we recorded ourselves.

Bump... I will be playing the 362 and 4002. Hope to see you there!

Well, how did the gig go?

Re: IRWO at the Uptown, St. Pete, FL Dec 19 2008
Well, it was an interesting night. It was the worst case scenario in every aspect.
A fourth band was tacked onto the bill at literally the last minute. This had the doubled effect of delaying the show by an hour, and cutting our play time almost in half.
Matt (the other singer/guitarist) got sick and had his voice drop out completely mid-set, so I ended up singing some of his songs that I could remember the words to.
There were no monitors, so our backing tracks were really hard to hear, since the PA speakers were in front of us. In the first chorus of That's Why You're Waiting, I realized I had the guitar on when I was supposed to be on bass, so I just stopped in the middle of the song, took the opportunity to turn one of the PA speakers toward us and we could hear them a lot better.
The overall output of the sound system was very low, and friends of mine who were at the middle or back of the room said they could barely hear us over nearby conversations. I should have realized this since our guitar amps were both on "1."
The band directly before us was cool, but their singer was quite grating on most people's ears.
They kind of cleared out half the crowd that the other previous two acts had built up for us.
Some very good things came out of it though.
Our lighting crew was ON it. They rocked hardest of all. The video came out great, and since we used tracks, it will be effortless to record some new vocals, etc, and doctor up the recording for youtube viewing.
One of the most popular original local bands in town was playing a slightly bigger venue literally next door, and their crowd was absolutely nothing in comparison to ours, so we were very happy about that.
The Uptown looks abd feels like one of those funky bars out of Pulp Fiction, so that was really cool. They have great beers like Chimay too.
The owner of the place is an insane (in a good way, I think) Polish woman who loved us. I went back last night to return a house mic cable we accidentally grabbed, and she tried to book us for the 27th of this month, and told us we were "good boys, not like those punk bands."
Unfortunately we have chosen to do no gigs until we have bass and drums, but that should happen soon. The guys in Sobriety (see metal topic here) are really cool and we're probably going to get them in on it.
So there you go, this is J Dog reporting live from my computer. Thanks for the interest everyone, and Andy get well soon.

You can't find a bassist in Tampa?
What's up with that JDog?
Re: IRWO at the Uptown, St. Pete, FL Dec 19 2008
Yeah, I wish I could find a local bass player who's into Ricks! Gee, none of them around here, I guess?!?!?!
