I'm on it! We'll see! I have a couple FG 4001's, a '76 and a July '73 that I'd give up for that one.

Thanks for the headzup and the offer to help Brett.

Okay guys...the seller got back to me. He seems like a great guy. He sent me some higher res versions of the CL photos and added one of the jack plate and one of the back of the headstock as well.

The bass looks to be in outstanding condition and I'm very tempted, but I've decided to pass. I was hoping that this one was made before the sparkly inlay cutoff date, but it wasn't. :( If it had the sparklies, it would be mine already. Unfortunately I have a massive crush on the crushed! Without them, I'd just always be looking to replace this bass with one that had 'em.

He's had it for around 5 years and bought it from its original owner who bought it locally and obviously took very good care of it. From his in-hand descriptrion it sounds like it hasn't had it's truss rods "adjusted" by any idiots.

He says he's received a whole bunch of emails on it. Many are lo-ballers, but I think he's too smart to fall for them.

Somehow I'm not able to get the photos down loaded to the forum this time. I don't know what's wrong. Send me an email and I'll forward them along if you'd like.

Thanks again, Brett. I have a lot of family in CT (Westbrook, Avon, New Britain, West Hartford) that also could have helped as well, but I was hoping to take you up on your offer to at least inspect and/or pick up.

Ahhhhh....So that one is yours, Andy! I saw it in the register last night. The one for sale is MB530, less than 30 units later than yours and it got short changed on the inlays! Beautifully preserved bass though. See full-sized photos of it on this thread:

Actually the BG is my fav to look at...no question. The FG just "feels" to me in a way that the BG doesn't. If I could only combine the looks and the feel of both... :(
